STORY: "Closing arguments in David Camm trial set for Monday," by reporter Grace Schneider, published by the Courier-Journal on October 20, 2013.

GIST: "On Monday afternoon, the jurors are expected to start deliberating in Camm’s third trial after hearing closing arguments in the morning from Kammen and Special Prosecutor Stan Levco. They’ll also review final instructions. Both lawyers are expected to hit the high points of testimony they offered as evidence during the last eight weeks and to summarize their cases before jurors take the matter behind closed doors. Once they begin deliberations, the jurors will be sequestered and stay overnight in a hotel until they reach a verdict.........  Lawyer Richard Kammen told jurors assembled for the start of David Camm’s triple-murder trial in late August that Camm’s defense team would ask theCamm has maintained his innocence, saying he was away playing basketball when his family was murdered. An uncle, cousin and other companions who’d played pickup ball with him the evening of the murders testified during the trial that Camm didn’t leave the gym that night and didn’t recall seeing blood on his clothing that night. Kammen has said repeatedly that Camm was the victim of a rush to judgment by former Floyd County Prosecutor Stan Faith and investigators who refused to shift the blame when evidence surfaced in early 2005 of Charles Boney’s involvement. Boney, a 44-year-old New Albany man, was ushered into the Boone County courtroom in a tan prison jumpsuit, handcuffs and leg shackles under tight security. He testified that he’d delivered two loaded handguns to Camm and was standing outside the garage when fatal shots were fired. He’s is now serving a 225-year sentence for his role in the murders. Levco told jurors in his opening statement that Camm wanted to end his marriage and stood to gain from insurance proceeds and employment benefits left from his wife, an accountant at Aegon in Louisville. He said that little Jill Camm didn’t speak with words before she died, but that the tiny droplets of her blood had told the true tale of her death."
